Koto

2014

Koto is a one-room apartment in a detached house. Koto is so small that it can be fully assembled at the factory and then shipped onto the site, which makes it super fast to set up.

Innovative structural and spatial solutions make the house seem bigger on the inside. A unique sandwich structured wall is self-supporting and insulating, which means no additional structures are needed besides the shell.

The portability of Koto has two main advantages. First, the time needed from ordering to actually moving into the house is minimised. Second, moving to another city doesn’t mean moving to another apartment anymore. Simply ordering a truck to move the house to the new location is enough.

Koto was presented at the Dubai Design Week 2016 as a part of the Global Grad Show.
